Christmas In Heaven

This story is a Starlight Inner-Prize web site special and does not appear in the Pure Coincidence Book Series:

I see the beauty of the Christmas trees,

Around the world below ...

Twinkling lights like heaven's stars,

Reflecting in the snow.

The sight is so spectacular,

So please, wipe away that tear.

For I am spending Christmas

With Jesus, in Heaven, this year.

I hear the sounds of the Christmas songs,

That are held so very dear,

But earthly music can't compare,

With the choir that sings up here.

I have not the words to tell you,

The joy their voices bring.

For it's beyond description,

To hear the angels sing.

I know how much you miss me.

Trust God and have no fear,

For I am spending Christmas

With Jesus Christ this year.

I can't begin to tell you of the splendor

Or the peace here in this place.

Can you imagine Christmas

With our Savior, face to face?

May God uplift your spirit,

As I tell Him of your love.

Pray for one another,

As you lift your eyes above.

And let your hearts be joyful,

Your spirits rejoice and sing,

For I'm spending Christmas in Heaven,

And I'm walking with the king!

** Lysandra Kay Bencke was the thirteen year old handicapped daughter of Wanda Bencke. On Christmas day 1997, Lysandra had a seizure and was in a coma for five days before she died. During those five days, her mother wrote the poem "Christmas in Heaven".

It is presented here in loving memory of Lysandra Bencke and with condolences to her loved ones, and appreciation to Wanda Bencke for sharing her beautiful poem with the rest of us.

** And, as of December 2005, the above poem is hereby dedicated to the beloved memory of 12 year old Noah Bryce Gillogly, son of Bruce & Tammy Gillogly; grandson of Bill & Darlene [Sealey] Smith. Noah was accidentally shot the first day of deer season - November 28th, 2005. He was so dearly loved and will be greatly missed by everyone.
