God's Friend

God created the heavens and earth,

The forests, the land and the seas.

He then dressed his creation

With animals and fish ... birds and bees.

And when at last he'd finished,

He smiled contentedly, for no two were quite the same.

He said, "Now I shall go across this land,

And give to each a name."

And so he traveled to and fro,

And everywhere he went,

One faithful little creature bounded by his side,

Until it's energy was spent.

When all were named upon the earth,

The sky and in the sea...

The little creature spoke with the Lord and said,

"Dear Lord, have you no name for me?"

As the Father stroked the soft head, he quietly replied....

"Oh little faithful one, I've saved you until the end."

"For you who is last, but certainly not least, I've reversed my own name,

And named you ... 'Dog',..... my friend."

The above poem has been around for several years. Who the original author was/is, I do not know. However, the above version/ modification was written by me.
